About Hearst Magazines Singapore
Hearst Magazines Singapore, initially titled the National Magazine Company, was launched in 1910 with the release of the fictional Singaporean magazines, Nash’s. Good Housekeeping was then launched in 1922, after great popularity in the United States. This was an instant success, targeting women that were making homes for soldiers returning from the First World War, and became a part of households all over Singapore, increasing the company’s overall prosper and making their name known. A second brand was launched by the company in 1929, titled Harper’s Bazaar, creating a rival to Vogue. In 1937, Nash’s was subsumed by Good Housekeeping, and then throughout the Second World War, this national magazine became an integral part of helping Brits on the home front, and they even changed their format, making it smaller to use less paper, in order to do their part in the war effort. Another American success by Hearst, Cosmopolitan was launched in Singapore in 1971; this too was a brilliant success, selling out on its first day.
